.............how I am longing for SPRING!
How much longer can this rotten weather go on? I am getting so all I want to do is sleep my way through these days. Any excuse for a nap is a good one.
Yesterday we were hit by a blizzard, a whopper, with blowing snow and high, high winds. Today I cannot get out of my driveway. The wind is still blowing in big gusts, and it is driving me crazy. School has been cancelled for 2 days, and I have had to cancel choir practice tonight. I can't get out and my assistant, who is a nurse is worn out. Her husband is stuck in Saint John, NB because the ferries are not running. I don't think I have ever had a winter where choir has been cancelled so many times. That could be because I am a lot less eager to go out on a stormy night, even for an hour and a half.
Our power was off for four to five hours, yesterday afternoon. Supper was cooked in the wood stove oven. Because of our circumstances, we only use the wood stove when the power is interrupted, but it makes me nervous about a chimney fire.
One good thing in all of this is that Joe was able to get rid of my ad problem. I am so thankful for this. It took a bit of work, but they are gone, gone, gone! I am getting used to the new 8.1, but I imagine things will come up that I won't have a clue about. For now, I am doing what I know how to do, and being very careful. I had my old laptop for about 6 years, and never had a problem. Perhaps I was just satisfied with what was on it and didn't have to go searching for anything.
It is very weird, because the sun is shining just now, and the sky is blue. It is very deceiving. Highways are still closed down, so it must be for low visibility because of blowing snow. I am amazed but thankful that our power has not gone off again.
Hopefully, better days are ahead, before I go completely bonkers. I am about this [] far away.

Update
Thanks to Dawn and Perpetua for checking the blog.
Apparently there is a little bug or nasty program on my computer. It doesn't affect the blog. Only I can see the little ads. I can put up with that until Joe can find the solution. In the meantime I am being bombarded with ads!
My advice is not to try to download something from the net unless you really know what you are doing. Somehow I managed to download something that I didn't realize.
Oh well......on to better days. Joe didn't even laugh at me for getting myself in this mess.
No more downloads for me.
Thanks for your help.

Sorry
I am seeing ads on my blog. Perhaps it is just my computer, but if you do see ads, please let me know. I do not want them there, but have not been able to figure out how to get rid of them. I do not want ads on my blog.
This new laptop is giving me a headache, but I am hoping with a few days under my belt, I can get things right.
For now, I want to apologize for the ads you may see.

Little Robin
The North wind doth blow and we shall have snow,
And what will poor robin do then, poor thing?
He'll sit in a barn and keep himself warm
and hide his head under his wing, poor thing.
And what will poor robin do then, poor thing?
He'll sit in a barn and keep himself warm
and hide his head under his wing, poor thing.
I saw a robin today and I remembered this little poem from a
long time ago. It is an old nursery rhyme.
Then I wrote one of my own,
just because........
Today a little robin called to me
From way up in my old crab tree.
She sang her song to give me hope
That with the weather I could cope.
I sighed, as she then flew away,
There would be no worms today.
The ground is covered yet with snow,
But I thank her, because now I know
That Spring will come,
Winter will be done.
So patience Bonnie,
Spring will make all things new
You heard it from the robin,
so it must be true.

O My Goodness
It is a beautiful morning as I look out my window. Blue sky, sun shining, and not much wind, but....... it is SO COLD! It is -20C (-4F). Brrrrrrrrrr! Sadie could hardly get up the back steps, her little feet were so cold.
Rae's team won bronze in the provincial tournament. They were so pleased. The games were really well played, with lots of great teamwork, and some amazing shots. Three of the girls were celebrating their birthdays, so the parents got a cake for them, and they celebrated between games.
It is so great to see these girls enjoying one another's company, having fun together. It was bittersweet because for three or four of the girls, it was their last high school game, as they are graduating in June. It was a great way to finish their year.
It was a long day, but I really enjoyed it. I was very tired on Sunday, and if I hadn't been responsible for playing the organ, I might have fallen asleep during the service. :) The weariness lingers, but it was worth it. I have to make choices. Where and when do I expend my energy? This past weekend was important to Rae, and I am glad I did not miss it.
I had planned to go shopping for a few things today, but I do believe I will not go out. The cold does a job on my poor old body, so again I must make a choice. How important is it that I go out?
At this moment, not very.
The lambing has begun at Ironwood, and if remember right, they have three sets of twins, with more to come later this month I think. I am anxious to see them, but I will need to wait until it warms up some. When I think of those babies being born in the cold barn it makes me shiver. H says that they are ok, once they are cleaned up, and dried off. Amazing.
So, now I am waiting for a little more warmth to come from old Sol, the snow to melt, and the crocus to peek up through the ground. That will be the real sign of Spring.
For now, I will enjoy the view out my window.
